SAVE THE CHILDREN INTERNACIONAL (SCI), a non-profit humanitarian organization with focus on child well-being, is recruiting candidates for the position mentioned below: Director – LINK Project (Maputo)
Our preference/priority is National professionals or those who have acquired Mozambican citizenship.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as international development, environmental science, or a related field (Masters’ degree preferred).
Certification in Project Management (PMD-Pro, PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
Experience and Skills
Essential
-
- Experience working with international donors such as the Global Climate Fund (GCF), World Bank, or USAID.
- At least 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in the field of climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, or community development.
- Knowledge of climate change policy frameworks and international agreements (e.g., Paris Agreement, UNFCCC) is an asset.
- Proven track record in managing multi-cultural teams and working in diverse cultural settings.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing complex projects or programs, ideally in the field of climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction.
- Excellent understanding of climate change adaptation concepts and strategies, preferably with experience working in the field of climate change adaptation in Mozambique or similar contexts.
- Strong written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills in English and Portuguese are expected, considering the coordination with representatives of the Mozambican government.
- Experience with the district planning process, especially on the channelling of investment to adaptation investments to attend the specific needs of the most vulnerable.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with a proven ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to synthesize and analyses information, and make clear, informed decisions.
- Ability to build relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and externally
- Strong planning, management, and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks, and responsibilities.
