GAIN – Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition

GAIN is seeking to recruit a Project Assistant, Cabo Delgado Food Systems Strengthening Programme (CDFSS) to provide administrative, logistical, documentation and field-level support to the CDFSS programme team. This is an operational support position with a significant field component. The Project Assistant is expected to work regularly in communities, markets and programme sites, supporting Project Officers and ensuring that activity records, beneficiary documentation and administrative requirements are accurate, complete and submitted on time.

This role will be offered on a permanent contract, subject to availability of funding and will be based in Nampula, Mozambique. This advert closes on 2nd September 2026. Key Responsibilities include

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Project Coordinator, including scheduling, minutes and action tracking.
  • Ensure field mission logistics (transport, accommodation, per diems and materials) are organized and prepare mission folders and monitoring tools.
  • Ensure programme supplies are facilitated on time and maintain the programme calendar.
  • Support Project Officers in delivering training, market activations and community sensitization activities.
  • Assist with beneficiary mobilization, registration and verification, and support asset distribution and handover documentation.
  • Liaise with cooperative leaders, vendor associations, NGOs, Government and community structures for scheduling and logistics.
  • Collect attendance lists, participant records and activity evidence, and transmit field information promptly to the Project Coordinator.
  • Responsible for archiving and documentation of project data. Including uploading and regularly updating PRISM for management information and review.
  • Assist in preparing procurement requests, collecting quotations and tracking delivery of goods and services.

About you

The ideal candidate will have practical experience in programme support, administration, field coordination or community-based work. They will be comfortable supporting field activities, beneficiary engagement, community mobilisation, data collection and logistical arrangements, while maintaining accurate programme and administrative records. Experience working in food security, agriculture, community development or enterprise-support settings would be an advantage, particularly within NGOs, government institutions, private-sector organisations, cooperatives or donor-funded programmes. Familiarity with beneficiary registration, procurement documentation, asset distribution, inventory management or basic financial records would also be beneficial.

The successful candidate will be reliable, well organised and attentive to detail, with the ability to manage multiple administrative and field-support responsibilities within agreed timelines. They will communicate respectfully and effectively with beneficiaries, community representatives, implementing partners, service providers and colleagues, while handling confidential information with appropriate care. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required, together with the ability to prepare clear documents, trackers and basic reports and to use digital or paper-based data-collection tools accurately. Full professional proficiency in Portuguese is essential, while knowledge of Makhuwa, Emakhuwa, Shimakonde or another relevant local language would be a strong advantage. The role requires regular travel within Nampula and periodic travel to Cabo Delgado and Zambézia, including work in locations with limited infrastructure.

About our offer

The starting gross salary on offer for this role is from USD 16,656 – USD 19,056 gross per annum, depending on experience.
